Stress- A silent killer- How to cope up with it

We all feel some degree of stress every day in our life. The moment we get up to get ready to face another day till the time we retire for the day, our life now a days seem to be full of sometimes inexplicable complications and stress. While stress level in moderation is very much required to keep going and have little bit of excitement in life, too much of it is also a source of many an ailments and personality related disorders and misgivings. Rest assured we can wish away stress from our life. But we can definitely try to manage stress.

Following 10 steps will help you understand and cope up with the stress level effectively:
  1. The first step to deal with stress is to understand that you are feeling stressed out. The difference between positive and destructive stress is very thin. So always make a conscious attempt not to fall prey to too much stress.

  2. Remember you are not the only one who is facing stress in his life. So have a grip over your stress and not allow it to have one over yours.

  3. Sometimes we feel stress for such a trivial reasons that if you view the situation objectively in hindsight, the whole thing will look so simple and foolish. Remember the day when that car or biker took such an ugly turn and almost hit brushed your new car. You felt like killing that person on the spot and it ruined your entire day. Now just think that you may never meet that person again in your life. So why feel stress for something as small as road rage. It is simply not worth it.

  4. Have a good music system in your car. Take it as in investment and treat yourself with good and your favourite music. Soulful music is said to have relaxing and soothing effect on mind and body. It is a proven fact.

  5. Sometimes you feel stressed out simply by seeing the face of the person you so despise in office. Remember that you can not always choose to have persons of your choice in your team. By feeling stressed out, you are only allowing him to take control of your life. It is your life buddy and you should be responsible for it. Maintain cordial relationship in your office life with all and do not allow extraneous situations or third persons to take care of your life.

  6. Remember that heavens are not going to fall if things go wrong in office. Take small but determined steps towards solving the problem which is causing you stress. The first step is the key.

  7. Bosses are thought to be biggest stress givers. Try to be in their position. Think from their angle. May be they are under greater stress as they are responsible for a large number of persons like you.

  8. Procrastination is the biggest cause of stress and anxiety. It remains in the back of our mind in sub conscious state when we delay things for no apparent reasons. It is so natural for all of us. Do not delay things. Remember you alone are responsible for that. So why not finish it as fast as possible.

  9. If you are feeling stressed out, take a break and go to your favorite holiday destination with your buddies or family members. A well deserved beak from hectic life style is the biggest stress buster.

  10. If you are feeling stress due to personal issues, communication is the key to your problems. Do not allow your inflated egos and pre conceived notions to come in the way of having a constructive dialogue with your spouse or other family members. Life is too small to wait for the other person to make the first move. Be the first one.
