So after indulging in your favorite pastimes- food for years and years
together without any modicum of guilt, you are faced with not so good predicament-
your over bulging stomach and back and general feeling of uneasiness which
is so evident the way you walk and carry yourself. Now the whole life story
is facing you and you are wondering where you went wrong. What did you do
to deserve that extra pounds and a double chin. You were so smart in your
college days. Remember that stolen looks the beautiful pretty young thing
had of you when you were attending that boring college lecture. But all
that was may be 10 years and 30 to 40 pounds earlier. Well well well. Enough
of nostalgia and welcome back to the real world. While you may not go back
to 10 years back, you may certainly go back to 30 pounds less when you used
to feel lean and mean.
If you want to do that, following is the way for you:
Remember that realization that you are over weight is only the first
step towards achieving the ultimate goal of shedding those extra kilos.
So the earlier the realization, the better for you.
Follow a well disciplined life style and exercise regime. Devote at
least 45 minutes to 1 hour a day to hit the gym or simply to hit the
road. It is not asking too much for something as precious as your life.
Do weights if you do not have any other complications. Also do cardio
vascular exercises to help tone up body and muscles and help your heart
also.
Avoid cakes, pastries, biscuits, patties, pizzas, burgers and colas.
They are the biggest contributors to weight gains.
Do not starve your self under any circumstances. If you starve yourself,
there is a tendency to indulge in the next meal which is more harmful
for the body.
It is always worthwhile to have five small meals a day rather than
2-3 big meals. Give your body time to digest whatever you are eating.
Avoid sugar as much as possible as sugar adds to your body weight.
Whenever you feel the urge to have something sweet, indulge in fruits.
Never eat while doing your favorite things like watching TV or reading
news papers. Take your time to chew whatever you eat. And always get
up before you feel full.
Add plenty of raw vegetables, salads and fruits in your diet. Avoid
oily and fatty food like hot potatoes.
Avoid processed and packaged food like chips, French fries and similar
items. The only thing these food items lighten is your purse and the
only thing they add to is your weight.
Monitor your weight regularly. Give your self a pat on the back every
time you make progress, however small it may seem. And do not feel helpless
if the road ahead seems to be long. Remember to have patience and you
are sure to be successful in your effort.
